He also received a Doctorat \u00e8s Sciences Math\u00e9matiques from the University of Paris 13, Campus of Orsay. He worked in the aerospace research and industry in France for about 20 years, doing research at ONERA, in particular developing the first 3D transonic code in France to help analyze the newly designed Airbus wing, then heading numerical simulation groups at MATRA and later at Aerospatiale Systems Division, before joining, from 1989 to 2013, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UC Davis. Trained in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), he has been conducting research in transonic flow, applied aircraft aerodynamics and for the last 20 years or so in wind turbine aerodynamic design and analysis as well as aero-elastic simulation, with the support of General Electric (GE). Professor J. J. Chattot has authored and co-authored two books published by Springer Verlag, titled &#8220;Computational Aerodynamics and Fluid Dynamics, an Introduction&#8221; and &#8220;Theoretical and Applied Aerodynamics, and Related Numerical Methods&#8221; with Professor M. M.
