Ph.D. Students
Matthew (Matt) Miksch (Fall 2019 – present)
Matt is a Ph.D. student in the Water Resources Engineering program. He got his B.S. in Meteorology from Iowa State University and his M.S. in Climate Science from Utah State University. Matt’s current research focuses on turbulent exchanges over sloping and complex terrain from both a measurement and modeling perspective. He is also passionate about scientific programming and learning new ways to measure and model land-air interactions. In his free time, Matt enjoys hiking, photography, and binge-watching bad horror movies. Check out Matt’s webpage!
Masters Students
Wilton Gray IV (Fall 2019 – present)
Wilton is a MS student in the Water Resources Engineering program. He received his B.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Wilton’s current research focuses on methane emissions from lakes at the water-air interface. He has a devotion to learning, especially on the topic of renewable energy. He is also passionate about his hometown Boston sport teams (the city of champions). In his free time, he enjoys fishing, music, and cooking (and eating it).
Undergraduate Researchers
Martin Liu (Spring 2020 – present)
Martin is a junior pursuing a degree in civil engineering with a focus on structures and water resources at the University of California, Davis. He and the undergraduate research team are using Python and EddyPro to do turbulence flux data processing. In his free time, he enjoys calisthenics and taking naps.
Yuhao Sun (Spring 2021-present)
Yuhao is currently a third-year undergraduate pursuing a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Davis. He is exploring the use of statistical clustering techniques with large datasets to automatically group various flow regimes from the MATERHORN field experiment. He plans to continue his education by going to graduate school to learn cutting-edge computational and machine learning techniques to apply them to environmental questions. In his free time, he likes to work out and watch movies.
