Amit Kanvinde

Research Interests

Amit Kanvinde is interested in the seismic response and design of steel structures, with an emphasis on understanding and simulating extreme limit states such as fracture, fatigue, and collapse. His research addresses structural performance at the material, component, as well as the building scales. His work involves a combination of large and small scale testing, along with computational simulation and analytical modeling.

Some of his recent and ongoing research topics include:

  1. Fracture reliability of welded column splices
  2. Seismic performance of column bases
  3. Continuum models for fracture and fatigue initiation and propagation in steel structures
  4. Simulation of localization phenomena in beam-column elements.
