Teaching interests: Medical device design, prototyping, point-of-care technologies, cell mechanics, mechanobiology
Dr. Passerini has been a primary instructor for the BME Senior Design series since 2005. In that time he has mentored ~150 student teams through the design process on projects spanning clinical/ translational/ veterinary medicine, point-of-care technologies, disabilities, and global health.
He is program faculty and co-investigator on a NIBIB award, now in its second iteration, that supports translational design and innovation.
As Vice Chair from 2015-2018 he led efforts toward enhancing design and skills-building activities throughout the curriculum, and internship opportunities for the students.
His efforts have contributed significantly to the department’s undergraduate curriculum development and accreditation activities.
