Broader Impact:

Leveraging reinforcement learning tools, this collaborative project aims to solve two important problems in wireless network management in complicated real-world settings, namely real-time wireless scheduling and wireless edge caching.
It is our hope that this project will make a paradigm shift and the research findings will spur a new line of thinking for real-time wireless scheduling and edge caching in a variety of IoT applications, including 5G, autonomous driving, augmented reality, smart health and smart city, benefiting both the US and Finland.

Another objective of this project is to integrate research into educational activities and foster technology transfer from research to industry. The objectives of the planned educational and broadening participation activities are to integrate the research findings in wireless resource management with computing engineering courses for undergraduate and graduate level education, and broaden participation of K-12 students and underrepresented minorities in the field of engineering.

  • In Summer 2022, I participated in the CITRIS workshop for high school students in STEM, and gave a lecture on autonomous driving.
  • In Year 2022-2023, I supervised 2 undergraduates in independent research studies.
  • In Year 2023-2024, I hosted 3 undergraduates and 2 high-school student to carry out their independent research studies in our lab.
